Email setup with user-defined SMTP server settings
As an alternative to using SSPro's internal SMTP engine, users can specify their own SMTP server settings.
Many ISPs such as Yahoo & AOL do not provide
SMTP access to their email servers, however you can obtain a free SMTP account from hotpop.com.
Visit www.hotpop.com and signup for a free SMTP account. Once you have obtained your account information return here
for instructions on how to setup SSPro for sending log files and alerts. If you have access to a different SMTP account
simply follow along and replace your values with the defaults. Use of SSPro's email features requires that the machine be connected to the
Internet.
Enable email features by checking this box.
Uncheck the option to use SSPro's internal SMTP engine.
Enter the remote address to which you wish to send the SSPro log files/alerts.
Enter your hotpop email address.
Enter the hotpop SMTP server address. This should be "smtp.hotpop.com".
Enter the SMTP port number. This should be 25 by default. (Some ISPs are now blocking port 25 unless you
are connecting to their SMTP server. In these cases you will want to refer to your SMTP server's documentation if they provide for
an alternate SMTP port number).
Enter your hotpop user name.
Click the "Authentication" button to configure access to your hotpop account.
Click option titled "POP3 Authentication".
Enter the hotpop POP3 server address. This should be "pop.hotpop.com".
Enter the POP3 port number. This should be 110 by default.
Enter your hotpop user name.
Enter your hotpop password.
Be aware that some SMTP servers require "SMTP" authentication. If this is the case with your SMTP account
you will want to select the "SMTP" authentiation method and fill in the required information.
